Linda Eaton was one of those amazing people who have a wide range of skills and aptitudes that enable them to perform with distinction right across the Arts and Crafts field. This was true in such diverse areas as sewing and knitting, needle craft embroidery, water –colours, tapestry, greetings cards, pressed-flowers, and many others. Linda was not the sort of person to push herself forward but when she did enter competitions she was a natural winner. Linda was a proud “Geordie” but lived the last thirty three years of her life in Blackpool after marrying Brian. In a fulsome career Linda was a very well-regarded civil servant working for a long time at Longbenton at Newcastle-upon-Tyne. In Blackpool Linda was a tower of strength in the voluntary work circuit including with MIND, Thornton-Cleveleys Cricket Club, and her local Methodist Church. Above all she was a great encourager with people and welcomed the success of others. Just prior to her sudden and unexpected death in July 2011 Linda was in the process of organising her materials for further advances on the Arts and Crafts front. She would have been delighted to see people participating in this work and opening up their lives more fully.
